A YouTube channel gives content creators and users a place to keep their videos, but sometimes the topic of the channel may change. When that happens, you’ll want to know how to change the YouTube channel name, unless you plan to create a new one.
How to Change YouTube Channel Names on PCs
1. Log in at YouTube
To change your channel name, you must log in to YouTube under the account you want to manage. Click on the profile picture in the top right corner and enter your login information.

2. Your Channel
Once you’re logged in to YouTube, go back to your profile icon. Click it to access a drop-down menu and select Your Channel from the options.

3. Customize Channel
On your channel page, you can manage videos or the channel itself. To change the channel name, click Customize Channel.

4. Channel Customization
A new window will appear with options for branding, layout, and basic channel information. Choose Basic Info and you’ll see options for your handle and channel name.

5. Rename Channel
Enter your new channel name in the top box that says Name. When you are satisfied, click on publish to save changes to the channel. If successful, a message will appear at the bottom of the screen and your channel’s name will refresh on YouTube.

Changing YouTube Channel Names on Android or iOS
Whether you’re hit with a bout of inspiration on the go or need to change a channel name on the fly, you can do it on the YouTube app.
1. Open the App
Locate the YouTube app on your smartphone or tablet. Tap to open the app and log in to the YouTube account where you want to change the channel name.

2. Profile Settings
Tap on your photo icon to bring up a list of options and choose Your Channel.

3. Edit Channel
To change the channel name from here, you’ll need to look for the pencil icon as shown in the image below. Selecting it opens up a new window where you can edit your YouTube channel.
4. Change YouTube Channel Name
In your channel settings, tap on the pencil icon next to your channel’s name. Choose a new name for your channel and select Save to set the changes.

Managing a YouTube Channel
The steps in our guide show you how to change YouTube channel name quickly, but there are a number of features you can customize within a channel as well. You can access the settings through YouTube Studio’s channel customization, which you’ll find by going to your channel through the profile link.
The Basic Info section not only allows you to change your YouTube channel name, but you can also change your handle. This is where you can set a new URL and add a description as well. Want to add links to other sites for viewers of your channel? You can do that from here, while Branding opens the door to banner images and watermarks.

From setting featured sections for your channel to looking at analytics, there is a lot of information available through your channel settings. That includes the ability to set subtitles for videos or check on takedown requests. You can also delete YouTube channels from this menu by heading to Settings, Channel, and Advanced Settings.
To delete your channel, scroll to the bottom of this section and select remove YouTube content. When the pop-up appears, sign into your account and follow the prompts to delete your channel from YouTube.
