Cars That Start With T

With so many car models on the market, choosing the right one is often an overwhelming experience. That’s especially true if you don’t have expert knowledge. But what if you started your research following the alphabetical order? You know, from cars that start with ‘A’ to those that start with ‘Z.’

This strategy will expose you to so many brands and different car models within those brands. Cars that start with T are a perfect example. The letter T has something for everyone, from sleek sports cars to family-friendly SUVs, and from cutting-edge classic models to ultramodern electric vehicles

Each brand’s unique design, performance, and technology make it popular among varied car enthusiasts. In this article, we’ll uncover all the popular cars that start with ‘T,’ looking into their history, specs, features, and, ultimately, pricing. Let’s dive right into it!

Car Brands That Start With the Letter T

The choice of a brand name always has a deep, defining meaning. For instance, the Tesla brand is a tribute to Nikola Tesla, a Serbian-American electrical engineer and inventor, credited with developing modern alternating-current power systems and the invention of the induction motor, currently used in the design and manufacture of electric cars.

Many iconic car brands have T as the first letter of their names. The following section will examine the history of these cars in detail, discuss some of their popular models, and explain their current standing in the modern car space.

Tesla is an American automotive company focused on clean energy and artificial intelligence. Founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, the company has its headquarters in Austin, Texas, and trades on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the ticker TSLA.

Today, Elon Musk is the company’s largest individual shareholder and CEO, with 13.4% of the common stock outstanding. Tesla, Inc. stands out for its continued leadership in electric car manufacturing.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, the company delivered 405,300 units, up 17.87% from Q4 of 2021. Although its market share in the EV space plunged from 78% in 2021 to 65% in 2022, the company is still the market leader.

Best known for its electric car collection, the company is synonymous with incorporating modern designs and advanced technology into its units. Its focus on AI and autonomous driving is a perfect example.

In 2014, the company debuted its first-ever semi-autonomous vehicle, the Model S. This vehicle had an array of cameras, ultrasonic sensors, and radars all around that helped with rudimentary self-driving on the highway.

As of 2023, Tesla offers four car models and one semi-truck. These include the Tesla Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y. The first-ever Tesla EV, the original Roadster, is no longer in production. Below are the Tesla car models and how they stand out.

Tesla Model 3

Limited production of the Tesla Model 3 began in 2017 and proceeded with mass production in the following years. This car prides itself as Tesla’s first compact executive sedan. A compact executive car is bigger than a compact premium, but relatively smaller than an executive car. As such, it best fits the needs of many people.

Tesla marketed the Model 3 as cheaper than previous Tesla car models. In 2021 it became the first electric car to surpass the one million global sales milestone. A 2023 Model 3 base version will set you back about $43,990, while the performance variant costs about $54,000. Besides being a relatively inexpensive car, it’s one of the most feature-rich EVs you’ll ever find.

The Model 3 is an all-wheel drive car with two independent motors, one at the front and the other at the back. The car has a range of 358 miles and accelerates 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds. Tesla designed the Model 3 with safety in mind. The car guarantees minimum impact upon collision because of its rigid structure and lower base, reducing the rollover risk.

Tesla Model Y

The Model Y is a compact crossover SUV that started production in 2020. This car shares the same base as the Model 3 discussed above. According to Tesla, about 75% of its parts resemble those of the Model 3. While the two cars share most of their parts, the Model Y is relatively smaller.

The performance variant has a range of 303 miles with an acceleration of 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. The long-range variant gives you about 330 miles and a 0-60 acceleration in 4.8 seconds. Both are dual-motor all-wheel drive, but the performance variant has a seating capacity of five people, while the long-range one supports two extra seats.

The 2023 Model Y costs around $54,990 to $58,990. In 2022, the Model Y was the most-sold plug-in electric vehicle, with estimated sales of 771,300. Combined sales with the Model 3 exceeded 1.2 million units, a 36.77 year-over-year increase.

Tesla Model X

This middle luxury crossover SUV is one of Tesla’s greatest inventions. Production of the Model X began in 2015 and, in 2016, the car was the 7th most purchased plug-in electric vehicle.

The falcon wings doors make the Model X one of the most exciting Tesla cars ever. Most people don’t know that it uses the same platform as the Model S, with which it also shares 30% of its content.

The Plaid variant has a peak power of 1,020 hp and a range of 333 miles on a full charge. Its acceleration is impressive, achieving 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds with the rollout subtracted.

The long-range version doesn’t slouch, either. With a peak power of 670 hp, the car has a top speed of 155 mph, slightly lower than that of the plaid version, 163 mph, and a range of 348 miles. The 2023 Model X long-range version is about  $120.990, while the Plaid one costs about $138.990.

Toyota is a Japanese Motor corporation headquartered in Aichi, Japan. The company started its operations in 1937 and is one of the oldest car manufacturers in the world.

In the 1960s, the company took advantage of Japan’s growing economy and designed cars to suit the needs of the booming middle-class economy. This boom led to the development of the now-famous Toyota Corolla, which became the world’s best-selling vehicle.

Data from 2021 reveals that Toyota holds 10.5% of the global automotive market share. One of the reasons why Toyota is the most loved car is that the company doesn’t compromise on quality.

Essentially, no other car manufacturer has the same record of durability and efficiency. Toyota’s commitment to introducing striking exterior designs and interior comfort, coupled with the new driver-assist technology, makes the car successful.

Toyota also offers the best resale value on the market today. While the build quality is the main reason for this, Toyota’s models aren’t expensive, and the company strives to offer the best in class comfort and enjoyability. Moreover, safety is a priority for the Japan-based car manufacturer.

Another exciting thing about Toyota is that no other company has as many AWD/4WD. You have many options from the many models that Toyota manufactures. For instance, you can pick a luxury SUV, a budget sedan, a rugged truck, or a fun utility car under one brand.

Some of the most popular Toyota models include:

The Toyota Corolla first hit the market in 1966. By 1974, it was the world’s most-sold vehicle. Over the years, several generations have been introduced to the market. The year 2018 brought about three variants of the twelfth generation of the Toyota Corolla. These included the hatchback, Estate, and Sedan.

Most customers appreciate this car partly because of its low price point but primarily because of its reliability. The 2023 model of the Toyota Corolla comes with high-tech capabilities that guarantee a seamless driving experience. It has a Smart Key feature that lets you open and starts your car without pulling out your key.

Corolla takes its security and safety features seriously. Apart from its range of dynamic cruise control, the car also has a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane tracing assist capabilities, automatic high beams, road sign assist, and lane departure alert assist, among other exciting features. Toyota Corolla has seven variants (3 Gas and 4 Electrified), from $21,550 to $26,700.

Toyota Camry is America’s favorite car. Production started in 1982, originally featuring a compact body, but it has grown ever since and now boasts a wide one; or what most would classify as mid-size. After years of remodels, facelifts, and generations, we now have a 2023 model.

Latin American and Asian markets view the Toyota Camry as a luxury model because of its high-class features and relatively higher price tag. Like other Toyota cars, it has a high resale value, and its parts are easily accessible. And, depending on the Camry model you want, you can pay as high as $36,646 or as low as $26,220.

The Land Cruiser comes in several variants, all of which have undergone several facelifts to suit the modern market.

Toyota Land Cruiser pickup models are popular among the armed and irregular military forces because of their reliability and durability. In 2021, after over 60 years of production, Toyota announced it had discontinued manufacturing the Land Cruiser. However, customers can find similar ruggedness and reliability in models like the Sequoia, 4Runner, and Tundra.

Tata Motors is an India-based global automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Mumbai. Founded in 1945, the Tata brand is responsible for some of the most iconic car models in the world. The company also has several subsidiaries operating under its name, like the Jaguar Land Rover, which it acquired from the Ford Motor Company in the USA in 2008.

One of the main reasons why people love Tata vehicles is their focus on safety. The company doesn’t compromise safety in any way, always using high-quality build materials and incorporating tech-based safety features. You might not know this, but the Tata Nexon was the first ever car to receive a five-star rating at the Global NCAP.

While we often associate Tata vehicles with ruggedness, its cars are quite comfortable. However, the company focuses more on manufacturing heavy-duty vehicles like trucks, pickups, and public transport buses. Below are some popular Tata models.

These include Nexon Dark, Kaziranga, and Jet. In 2019, the first Nexon EV hit the market, and, by 2020, reports have it that it was the best-selling EV in India.

In 2022, the company launched the EV max, an even more advanced variant with a range of 272 miles. The Nexon EV will cost you about $18,000, making it one of the cheapest EVs on the market.

Tata Tiago is a small utility car often called a city car. The maker codenamed it “Kite” during its development stages, perhaps because of its lightweight design. Production started in 2016, and, as is the norm, it went through several facelifts. Unlike the Nexon, it has a four-star safety rating, specifically measured for the Indian market.

In 2020, Tata launched the Tiago.ev, a cost-effective PEV with a battery capacity of 24kWh and a 315 Km range for the LR version and 19.2kWH and 250 km for the MR variant. The Tata Tiago is among the cheapest cars you can ever find, costing as low as $8,070 in the US.

4. Tiger Racing

Tiger Racing manufactures Kit Cars. The company began operations in 1989 with founder Jim Dudley, focusing on manufacturing road and race cars. It has seven cars in its catalog, which it also leases out to drivers during Tiger racing events. One of the most interesting things about this company is that it gives you several options for purchasing one of its cars.

For instance, you can order a chassis of your favorite model and build on it as you progress. You could buy a chassis and body unit or order the complete version of the kit and assemble it at your doorstep. Another option is to order a factory-built unit of the Tiger or ERA model, and the company will fulfill the order within four to six weeks.

Popular models of Tiger Racing cars include the ERA 30, Tiger Avon, Tiger R6 – R10, Tiger aviator, ERA HSS, Tiger HS6, Tiger B6, and Tiger Z100. The company’s focus on designing and manufacturing Kit Car racing cars has enabled it to survive this long in the industry. While these cars don’t have the functionality of standard utility cars, they don’t take away from the comfort and fun of a luxury car.

Based in Las Vegas, Trion is a supercar manufacturing company founded in 2012 by Richard Patterson. You probably haven’t heard of this name because none of its cars have hit the road yet. In 2015, the company unveiled the Nemesis, a full-scale concept initially supposed to start production in 2018.

Later in 2016, the company unveiled the Nemesis RR variant at the Silicon Valley Auto Show. This mid-range four-wheel drive will feature a 9.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that will give 2,000 hp channeled to all the four-wheel through an eight-speed sequential transmitter. With its all-wheel drive and traction management system, the car will compete against the Bugatti Chiron.

Trion expects the Nemesis GT variant to reach a top speed of 218 mph and 0-60 acceleration of 3.5 seconds. The company aims to make the fastest-ever street-legal car. As of 2016, preorders had a base price of $1.6 million.

Bottom Line

While brand names are important, we must understand there’s no significant reason to consider the first letter. It’s part of the brand name but doesn’t necessarily provide meaningful information about the car’s quality, reliability, safety, or performance.

Using the first letter strategy is simply a way to niche down. We hope that from the above list, you’ve found a car of your choice. If not, don’t hesitate to check out our other lists starting with C, V, B, U, Y, and W.
