How to Block Someone on Discord on the Desktop
First, let’s go through how to block someone on Discord if you’re using a desktop. The process is the same, whether you’re using macOS, Windows, or even the web browser application.
Step 1: Log in to Discord and Go to the Friends Tab
First, open the Discord application and log in, and you should be brought to the “Friends” screen automatically. If not, simply click the Discord logo in the top-left corner and then the “Friends” tab at the top.

Step 2: Block Them
The second step is pretty simple. To block someone you’re friends with, simply click their profile name and then scroll to the top. Here, you’ll see a “Block” button. Click this to block the person. This means that they won’t be able to message or ping you, and you won’t see any of their messages on the servers that you share. In addition, they won’t be able to join your servers. You can be assured that they also won’t be able to view your profile. Alternatively, if you wish to block someone that you’re not yet friends with, the process is similar. All you have to do is click their profile name in the “Direct Messages” section, which is underneath the Friends tab.

How to Block Someone on Discord on the Mobile App
A lot of us prefer to use Discord on the go instead, using their handy mobile app. Follow the steps below to find out how to block someone on Discord mobile.
Step 1: Log in to Discord and Go to the Friends Tab
The first step is similar, but the location is different. To find your friends, look along the bottom and tap the waving person icon.

Step 2: Block Them
To finish, tap the profile name of the friend you wish to block. Then, tap the three horizontal dots in the top-right corner. Here, you’ll see the “Block” option at the top. Tap this to block the person. If you want to block a person you’re not friends with, the process is a bit different from the desktop, however. Step 3: Block Someone on Discord You’re Not Friends With
To block someone you’re not friends with, you’ll need to go to a channel or server and find a message from them. Then, tap their profile picture, followed by the three horizontal dots as before. Lastly, tap “Block” to block them. While you can’t block someone from your direct messages section on the mobile, you can block anybody that you haven’t started a conversation with yet, so this is arguably an advantage.
