Final Cut Pro vs Premiere Pro

6 Best Laptops for Adobe Creative Cloud in 2024

When you’re looking to pick up a laptop for Adobe Creative Cloud, there is a good chance you want something with plenty of power. With Photoshop and Premiere Pro as the backbone of the Creative Cloud, these demanding apps require powerful computers. As Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro are the industry benchmarks for photo and video editing, you have to carefully select your computer of choice.

Given how diverse the needs are for Adobe Creative Cloud, the bad news is there is no one-size-fits-all approach to the best laptop. The good news is that you will have a definite choice between Mac and Windows options. Both operating systems can perform well with Adobe’s Creative Cloud, so expect to see both on the list below.

With this in mind, let’s get right into the best laptops for Adobe Creative Cloud in 2024.

For the absolute best Adobe Creative Cloud experience, the 2023 Apple MacBook Pro is the way to go.

Apple’s silicon CPU with the MacBook Pro, the M3 Pro chip, is more than capable of handling anything Adobe can throw at it. Apple laptops have long been regarded as the best laptops for photo and video editing, and the 2023 MacBook Pro continues this tradition.

Packed with an 11-core CPU and 14-core GPU, there is little you can throw at the MacBook Pro it cannot handle. The best aspect is arguably the 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, which helps with both photo and video editing. Having up to 1,600 nits of brightness and 120 Hz refresh rate makes it a joy to do your work.

Featuring three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an SDXC card slot, an HDMI port, and a headphone jack, you also have all of the necessary inputs for any accessories you need while editing. Not to mention you have a best-in-class 22 hours of battery life with video playback.

Arguably the most comparable laptop to the MacBook Pro, the Dell XPS 15 is excellent with Adobe Creative Cloud products.

Made with creative professionals in mind, you can bring all of your photo and video visions to life with the Dell XPS 15. The biggest highlight of the Dell is the 3.5K touch OLED screen, which makes color correcting for both photos and videos a real pleasure.

Of course, the XPS 15 is more than just a screen as the Intel i9 processor pairs with 32GB of RAM. Add in a 1TB SSD and you have ample power to push through even the most demanding Adobe apps. This is even more true when you consider Dell packed in the GeForce RTX 4070 GPU.

With all of this hardware, there is nothing in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of apps that Dell cannot handle. While the 720p camera is a disappointment, everything else about the Dell is just outstanding.

If you are looking for a laptop with dual screens for plenty of workspace, the ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 is awesome.

The unique design of the ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 may be exactly what fans of Adobe’s Creative Cloud have been looking for. ASUS’ primary display is a standard-sized 15.6-inch OLED screen with bright and vibrant colors. However, it’s the 14-inch 4K matte touchscreen that acts as a secondary display that opens the creative possibilities.

Whether it’s multitasking with Adobe apps, or using two apps at once, two screens can be a real lifesaver. To assist with this dual-screen approach, ASUS included its ErgoLife design to ensure the typing experience on the ZenBook Pro Duo doesn’t hurt the user. As a bonus, propping up the keyboard allows for more airflow underneath the laptop, which is great for cooling.

If you want maximum screen space with an Adobe-ready laptop, the Razer Blade 18 is the best choice.

With 18 inches of total screen size, you have the biggest display you can find in the Windows 11 lineup. As a QHD+ display with a 240 Hz refresh rate, the Razer Blade 18 isn’t just ready to tackle Adobe Creative Cloud, but also the most demanding AAA games. With a 2560 x 1600 resolution and 100% DCI-P3 color space, photo and video edits on the 18-inch display are just fun to do.

Along with the impressive size, the inclusion of a 13th generation Intel Core i9 processor and RTX 4080 GPU help Razer deliver. Razer’s 32GB of RAM is best-in-class as its 5200 MHz performance means quick loading times even for demanding Adobe apps. Plus, you can even add more RAM down the road. The Razer can handle up to 64GB of RAM, which is plenty powerful for future work needs.

With all of these features, you might expect the Razer Blade 18 to run hot. Instead, Razer packs in a 3-fan system that delivers surprisingly great thermal efficiency.

Any Adobe Creative Cloud users looking for maximum portability will find it with the 15-inch Apple MacBook Air M2

Weighing right around 2.7 pounds, the Apple MacBook Air M2 has been well-praised for its portability. Easily fitting in a backpack or overnight bag, Apple’s design is fantastic for taking the Air everywhere. The tradeoff is that the Air doesn’t quite deliver the same power levels as the MacBook Pro. However, light work in Photoshop and Premiere Pro is more than possible with the M2 Air.

Apple has praised the performance of these apps previously, especially when you consider the Air doesn’t include a fan. Instead, Apple relies on integrated graphics and its M2 CPU to help push the Air beyond its limits.

Paired with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD, there is enough power to handle all but the most demanding video edits. Creators who travel frequently will really love the lightweight nature of the laptop when on the go.

ProsCons
Fantastic portability No discrete GPU
Excellent Retina displayCannot upgrade after purchase

How to Pick the Best Laptop for Adobe Creative Cloud: Step-by-Step

When you are ready to pick up a new laptop for use with Adobe Creative Cloud, there are a few definite considerations to look at:

  • Display quality
  • Graphics
  • RAM

Display quality

Having a great display for Adobe Creative Cloud is one of the most important choices. For any creator, photographer, or graphic artist who wants to color code and deliver perfect work, having a strong display is a must. The good news is that between Apple’s Retina displays and OLED options here from Windows computers, you have a choice between some of the best laptop displays available today.

Graphics

Just as you would with gaming, a more powerful graphics card or GPU is a must for Adobe Creative Card. While there is no minimum level per se, starting with the RTX 3060 is probably a great starting point, which all of the Windows laptops on this list meet or surpass. For Apple fans, the GPU power of Apple’s silicon processor is more than enough to match what NVIDIA can deliver for photo and video editing power.

RAM

Unlike GPU, having a minimum amount of RAM is an absolute must. As a necessity for Adobe Creative Cloud, you shouldn’t look at any laptop below 16GB of RAM. On the Windows side, 16GB is the definite minimum but going up to 32GB is preferred. With Apple laptops, you can stick to 16GB as Apple manages RAM more efficiently with the combined CPU and GPU silicon chips.

Reasons to Avoid Photoshop
Using Adobe apps on a laptop gives you far more portability and choice over a desktop.

What to Know Before Buying the Best Laptop for Adobe Creative Cloud

While you might be tempted to pick up just any laptop for Adobe Creative Cloud, that would be a mistake. Between Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro, you are talking about the most demanding apps most computer users work on. These apps demand a strong feature set including RAM and GPU to help power through edits. Video editing, in particular, requires a strong GPU to ensure you have enough power to deliver edits in a reasonable amount of time.

Without a dedicated GPU, video exports can take significantly more time and all but freeze many low-power computers. Of course, a strong CPU is also a must, but it’s the GPU that can help carry more weight. Going with the RTX 3060 as the minimum recommendation really cannot be overstated.

As an extra note, before you pick up any laptop for Adobe Creative Cloud, your budget matters too. To get the best possible performance, you will want to carve out a budget of around $2,000. With this budget, you should have plenty of power to use all of Adobe’s apps.

Using the Best Laptop for Adobe Creative Cloud

As a 14-inch MacBook Pro M2 Pro owner, I know my laptop has more than enough power for these apps. This is why I chose this laptop as learning Photoshop has long been on my list of New Year’s resolutions. What’s important is that using any laptop listed here will help you do more with Adobe apps faster. I feel compelled to note again lower power computers will require more time to perform photo and video edits.

The laptops on this list were specifically chosen because they have the right specs to deliver edits quickly. The last thing you want is to spend hours exporting a video and tie up your computer during that time. Owning a laptop from this list will help prevent that exact scenario, which is well worth the purchase price.
