Release date and price

Asus released the ZenBook Pro Duo on September 6th, 2022, in two pricing configurations depending on the specs. The entry-level model was priced at $2499, and the upgraded model at $2999. Additional configurations have been announced since the Pro Duo’s unveiling.

Different Models

The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo is available in two different screen sizes. Each model comes with its own unique characteristics and specs, but the biggest thing that sets them apart is the display. Asus offers the ZenBook Pro Duo in 14-inch or 15-inch configurations.

The 14-inch model is a noticeable step down from the 15-inch version. While the 15-inch ZenBook Pro Duo comes with a full 4K UHD display resolution, the 14-inch model only offers 1080p.

This may not be much of a disadvantage if you are after a lower price as the 14-inch model is also $1000 cheaper, depending on your configuration. The lower weight is also another benefit of the smaller form factor. While the 15-inch model weighs over 5 pounds, the 14-inch version is just 3.46 pounds.

Dual OLED Displays.

The laptop’s dual-display layout is the most unique and fascinating feature. In Windows 10 and Windows 11, the lower panel shows up as a secondary monitor, making it highly intuitive to jump right in and start dragging your windows and applications around.

Asus has made the secondary display even more helpful with preinstalled software. The built-in Asus ScreenPad application gives you extensive options for setting up touch controls in Adobe apps, presets, commands, and many modifications.

Using the lower display is as easy as opening the laptop and turning it on. As you open the lid, the lower display lifts up on its own “Ergolift” hinge. The result is both displays line up perfectly, with minimal bezels getting in the way. You’re left with the lower screen at a comfortable viewing angle.

Features

The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo is packed with some helpful features and quirky ones too. While everyone can appreciate the beautiful display configuration, the sound quality will satisfy the discerning audiophile. The Harmon Kardon sound system cranks up to an impressive volume level, while the high-end clarity is super for video chatting and streaming.

If you need to take a Skype or Zoom call, the built-in 720p webcam will suffice, although not the best quality. The integrated microphone array provides excellent recording quality, making your room sound like a mini studio.

A wide array of ports allows you to connect external docking stations, power banks, and gaming monitors. The ZenBook Pro Duo offers a fantastic connectivity selection, with USB-A, USB Type-C, and Thunderbolt ports lining the sides. You also get an HDMI port for connecting to an external monitor and a headphone jack for connecting your favorite headsets.

Asus has generously provided the ZenBook Pro Duo with some fantastic specs. Powering the laptop is an 11th-generation Intel Core i5, i7, or i9 processor. While the i5 configuration is enough for most users, those who want the best performance gains opt for the i9. This powerful CPU combined with Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics makes this laptop a mobile gaming beast.

Asus ZenBook Pro Duo: Review

ScreenPad Plus on Asus ZenBook Pro Dup provides an ergonomic and stable platform for drawing or writing.

Asus designed the ZenBook Pro Duo with two audiences in mind: gamers and content creators. Gamers will enjoy the performance this laptop offers, with some of the unique advantages of the secondary monitor. You can install custom widgets and shortcuts for your games with the lower display, making it a cunning advantage in many games.

Performance is solid for the most popular games too. You may have to turn the resolution down to 1080p to get pleasing frame rates, but the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo can comfortably handle demanding titles like Grand Theft Auto V and Red Ded Redemption 2. Gamers looking to play demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077 or Microsft Flight Simulator might need to turn the settings down to get satisfying frame rates.

Content creators will appreciate the advantages of the secondary monitor as well. Programs like Adobe Photoshop and AutoCAD software can be configured with special widgets and functions. You can also utilize the lower display to hold virtual instruments and plugins for your music production software.

Performance is sure to please the most demanding content creator as the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo scores some impressive results in 3D benchmarks. A powerful combination of an 11th-generation Intel Processor and Nvidia RTX GPU makes this system a content creation powerhouse for graphic designers, video editors, and audio engineers.

While the unique layout of the ZenBook Pro Duo offers plenty of advantages, it is not without its drawbacks. Many users complain about the awkward position of the keyboard and trackpad. Because the display occupies the upper portion of the laptop, there is no room for traditional palm rest. To remedy this, Asus includes a separate palm rest in the box.
