Why Should You Buy the Acer Nitro 27″ Gaming IPS Monitor?

Gaming monitors feature a high refresh rate of 120 Hz or higher, which provides a smooth, responsive gaming experience. A high resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (FHD) or higher allows gamers to see more details.

Some other features that are vital for a quality gaming monitor are:

  • A response time of 5ms or lower reduces motion blur and ghosting.
  • Color gamut allows screens to display a wide color palette. Gaming monitors should have a color gamut of 99% sRGB or higher.
  • Good viewing angles let gamers see their monitor clearly from multiple angles. This is especially important when two or more players are sharing a single monitor and aren’t seated directly in front of it. In-plane switching (IPS) screens are renowned for having good viewing angles.
  • Variable refresh rate (VRR) technologies such as AMD FreeSync provide a smoother, more responsive gaming experience by eliminating screen tearing and stuttering.
  • An ergonomic stand lets you adjust your monitor’s height, tilt, and swivel.

The Acer Nitro 27″ Monitor meets or exceeds many of these requirements. It features a 2560 x 1440 resolution screen, a 180Hz refresh rate, a refresh rate of up to 5ms, and good viewing angles courtesy of IPS technology. It also boasts AMD FreeSync and an ergonomic stand.

Is the Acer Nitro 27″ WQHD 2560 x 1440 PC Gaming IPS Monitor Worth It?

We compared the Acer Nitro 27″ WQHD 2560 x 1440 PC Gaming IPS Monitor to two competing models: the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ1A and the Alienware AW2721D. All three are 27″ IPS monitors with AMD FreeSync Premium and ergonomic stands.

The Acer has the slowest refresh rate at 144Hz compared to the Asus at 170Hz and the Alienware at 240Hz. It also has the slowest response time at 5ms, while its competitors have a 1ms response time. The Acer is the only monitor in this lineup that doesn’t include HDR support.

The ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ1A has a list price of $349.99, which is $50 more than the Acer. The Alienware AW2721D is the most expensive monitor in the group at $449.99, $100 more than the Acer’s list price.

While the Acer Nitro isn’t quite as fast as the Asus or the Alienware and doesn’t feature HDR support, it’s also more affordable, even at list price. At 33% off — just $199.99 — we think it’s worth thoughtful consideration.
