Using your Oculus Quest 2 is a whole lot of fun. Even the simplest of actions requires you to interact with a virtual world! Occasionally, you will need to reset your devices and delete everything. Whether it’s a glitch that needs fixing or you are selling the device, a factory reset is sometimes necessary. Here are 5 steps to resetting your Oculus Quest 2 on your phone or your headset.
Steps To Resetting Your Oculus Quest 2 (with your phone)
Thankfully, the steps to resetting your Quest 2 are really simple. Even more, you don’t need to use the headset to do so since it all happens right in the Oculus app. Here’s how.
Step 1: Open up the Oculus app
The first thing you need to do is open up the Oculus app. iPhone or Android versions let you control certain aspects of the Oculus minus the headset. If you’ve Oculus before, you should have already downloaded and used the app as it’s required during setup.
Step 2: Tap the Devices menu

Look for the Devices menu on the app. It is at the bottom of the app on the menu. When you tap the menu, it will up a screen that displays connected devices and those associated with your account.
Step 3: Select your headset

Next, select the headset that you are trying to factory reset. If you have activated your headset and connected it to your phone, it should be visible on this screen.
Step 4: Tap advanced settings

After selecting the headset to reset, tap on the advanced settings menu. It will open up a few advanced options for the device, one of which is the factory reset option.
Step 5: Select and confirm a factory reset

Select the factory reset option and tap reset to initialize the action. It will take a few moments, but once the processing is completed, your headset will have been factory reset!

3 Steps To Resetting Your Oculus Quest 2 (on your Oculus)
If you don’t have a phone with you or just want to perform a factory reset using just your Oculus, Meta has an option for that too! It’s just as easy as using your phone. Here’s how:
Step 1: Turn off your headset
Hold down the power button on your device then select the Power Off option from the shutdown menu to turn your headset off.
Step 2: Hold the power and volume down keys at the same time
Once you turn your headset off, you will need to access the boot menu on the headset. Long press the power button and the volume down (-) button on your headset simultaneously until you see the boot screen load.
Step 3: Select and confirm the factory reset option
Once in the boot menu, use the volume buttons to navigate to the option that says Factory Reset then press the power button to confirm your selection. Once selected, a secondary confirmation menu will appear with a prompt. Select Yes using the power button. You have successfully performed a factory reset!
