Is the 27-Inch MSI Gaming Monitor Worth It?
We compared the MSI G271CP 27-inch gaming monitor (list price: $209) with two similar gaming monitors: the Acer Nitro 5 VG270UP ($229.99) and the ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QR1A ($249.99). All three gaming monitors have a 27-inch display and 1920 x 1080 (FHD) resolution.
The ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QR1A has the highest refresh rate of 170Hz. Both the MSI G271CP and the Acer Nitro 5 VG270UP have a refresh rate of 165Hz.
The ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QR1A and the Acer Nitro 5 VG270UP, both have IPS panels, which offer better viewing angles than VA panels, which are in the MSI G271CP. However, VA panels typically have better contrast ratios than IPS panels.
The MSI G271CP is the only one with a curved display among the three monitors.
Ultimately, which gaming monitor is best comes down to the individual’s preferences and budget. At the list price, the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ1A is the most expensive option as it comes with a higher refresh rate and IPS panels. The Acer Nitro 5 VG270UP also offers IPS panels with a slightly lower refresh rate of 165Hz but its list price is still higher than the MSI G271CP. At its current sale price of $209, the 27-inch MSI gaming laptop is the most affordable option and value for money with competing features and specs.
